Production Diary

PRE PRODUCTION

What did you do?

My concept is two people in a relationship have broken up and want to spend one last day together. Nuclear man comes in to ruin it all and force them to isolate. They have canned food to survive. At the end of it the policeman tells them it’s safe to come out, and I will have a shot of a sunrise. To write my script I have taken my idea and formatted it in Celtx

What have you learnt?

We’ve learned about the three-act structure and inciting incidents and how they are relevant to the story. The inciting incident of my story: my characters goal – get back in relationship with significant other, and be safe from Nuclear Man. Nuclear Man is the catalyst to the story and starts it off. The second act turning point is where they find a place to hide from nuclear man. There’s a montage within my structure of them surviving across multiple days. The third act turning point is that they run out of food and have a massive argument. Through conflict they are able to get things of their chest. The resolution is they escape, and are safe, and decide they want to be together again.

I have created a risk assessment to look at dangers and threats that may affect my cast and crew. I will also made a storyboard of images where I am determining what I want the shots to look like.

How have you worked with others?

What do you need to develop?

This week I need to do some drawings for my storyboard to establish what I want my shots to look like and then put them in order so I know what the genderal look of my film will be. I also need to determine what Nuclear Man looks like because currently I don’t have a clear image of him in my head.
